Scenes from the 1972 Democratic National Convention in Florida

At the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami Beach, Florida on July 10–13, 1972, South Dakota Senator George McGovern and Missouri Senator Thomas Eagleton accepted the party’s nominations for President and Vice President. (Eagleton later withdrew after it was revealed he’d been treated for depression.)

Pictured at the top, from left to right, are: Eagleton, former Vice President Hubert Humphrey (who McGovern beat to secure the nomination), McGovern and Edmund Muskie (who’d also sought the nomination).
